Non è mai facile andare in fuga quando si ha a che fare con corridori di spessore che si stanno preparando per le classiche di primavera nel Nord Europa: uno di questi è l’olandese Mathieu Van der Poel (Alpecin Fenix) che ha strabiliato tutti vincendo la quarta tappa della Settimana Coppi e Bartali a Montecatini Terme.

E in questa tappa toscana di 158 chilometri si è messa in luce nuovamente la Giotti Victoria-Savini Due con Emil Dima, atleta più rappresentativo del ciclismo in Romania.

Dima ha trovato l’occasione per inserirsi nella fuga con altri cinque corridori e a conquistare il quinto posto al passaggio al gran premio della montagna di seconda categoria a Goraiolo nella parte centrale del percorso. Col passare dei chilometri il tentativo è stato nobilitato dalla presenza illustre nel gruppetto di testa di Van der Poel a sua volta uscito tutto solo dal gruppetto dei migliori ed è riuscito a recuperare sui battistrada nel giro di quindici chilometri.

Emil Dima: “Dopo 3 giorni molto difficili ho capito che ero in condizione oggi di andare in fuga con altri corridori. A febbraio ho avuto un infortunio che mi ha tenuto lontano dagli allenamenti e dalle gare. Sono felice e sto migliorando giorno dopo giorno.  Ero in testa alla corsa con altri 4 ragazzi fino a quando non sono iniziati gli attacchi con Van Der Poel, ma il ritmo è aumentato molto e il plotone si è organizzato per riprenderci. Con un big del calibro di Van der Poel ho cercato di mantenere il suo ritmo perché sapevo che stava attaccando per andare a vincere la tappa. Ora sono concentrato per i prossimi 2 giorni di gare di questa settimana e per le prossime gare di aprile”.

Giotti Victoria-Savini Due on the run with Emil Dima in Montecatini Terme on the day of the show of Mathieu Van der Poel

It is never easy to go on the run when you have to deal with thick riders who are preparing for the spring classics in Northern Europe: one of them is the Dutchman Mathieu Van der Poel (Alpecin Fenix) who amazed everyone by winning the fourth stage of the Coppi and Bartali week in Montecatini Terme.

And in this stage in Tuscany of 158 kilometers, the Giotti Victoria-Savini Due with Emil Dima, the most representative athlete of cycling in Romania, came to light again.

Dima found the opportunity to enter the breakaway with five other riders and to conquer fifth place at the passage to the second category mountain grand prix in Goraiolo in the central part of the course.  As the kilometers went by, the attempt was ennobled by the illustrious presence in the leading group of Van der Poel who in turn came out all alone from the group of the best and managed to recover on the treads within fifteen kilometers.

Emil Dima: “After 3 very difficult days I realized that today I was in a position to go on the break with other riders.  In February I had an injury that kept me away from training and competitions.  I am happy and improving day by day.  I was leading the race with 4 other guys until the attacks with Van Der Poel started, but the pace increased a lot and the platoon got organized to catch us up.  With a big of the caliber of Van der Poel I tried to keep his pace because I knew he was attacking to go on to win the stage.  Now I am concentrated for the next 2 days of racing this week and for the next races in April”.
